In 1981, Danny Boultinghouse, Josef Garza and the late Dr. Charles Wilson realized that leadership is not a title it is a responsibility.  It was out of that realization that Leadership McAllen was created. Leadership McAllen provides a learning experience for existing and emerging leaders in the McAllen area.  Participants in the program are given the opportunity to develop an understanding of the promises and challenges facing McAllen as well as to develop and enhance their leadership skills. 

Leadership McAllen is about doing - about action - about creating more leaders.  

Leadership McAllen is about bringing people together to make things happen.

Leadership McAllen is about creating leaders for our community who can contribute to solutions to the many complex issues faced in an ever-changing world.

In 1981, three visionaries planned for McAllen’s future when they created Leadership McAllen.  Today, more than 800 Leadership McAllen graduates utilize their leadership skills to help sustain the quality of life in McAllen and to help create a brighter future.
